Sarah Savage

Sarah grew up in Malaysia. In her twenties she traveled Australia spending time in Adelaide and Brisbane and finally Hong Kong. After returning to the UK Sarah opened a successful delicatessen and coffee shop in the centre of Norwich (where virtually everything was made on site).  This was 12 years of her life, before selling the business in 2004.  Large scale outside catering functions and weddings tailored to individual requests were undertaken, alongside taking catering teams on board Norfolk Wherrys (boats) for directors days on The Broads or private hire.

Sarah then went on to set up a bespoke preserving company, Essence Foods,  specialising in unique recipe products and own brand contracts.  Stockists include Waitrose, The National Trust and Adnams as well as independent businesses.

Over the last 18 years Sarah has undertaken New Product Development for companies identifying and developing truly original concepts, as well as imaginative twists on authentic themes.  Categories have included desserts,  dairy products (sweet and savoury), food to go products, marinades/sauces, spice pastes, jams, marmalades and further bottled and long-life products.

She is truly innovative and is known as the Professor Brainstorm of the NPD world...she joined The Food Practice in 2008.
